A fire left a golf course near the Hamptons looking for new golf cars.
According to the Riverhead Local, a fire at the Indian Island county golf course destroyed most of the golf cars in their storage building. The building was also seriously damaged.
After a Sunday-night 911 call, Fire Assistant Chief JR Renten went to the site and found smoke and flames coming out of the building, according to the news outlet. The first was quickly stopped, but by then the damage was done.
Riverhead Fire Chief Joe Hartmann told the Riverhead Local his teams responded quickly.
“We responded with three engines, two ladder trucks, a tanker and fire police,” he said. The nearby Flanders Fire Department also responded; about 50 firefighters in all came to the scene. The Suffolk County Fire Marshal’s office was investigating, the Local reported.
