Allied Battery’s new lithium battery solution overcomes old problems and offers an exciting new alternative.
Allied Battery has developed a true “Drop-in-Ready” lithium battery solution that is compatible with all golf car models. A dealer can now convert a golf cart from lead acid batteries to Allied lithium batteries in less than 30 minutes using the same wiring and cables as used with your current lead acid system, in Series or Parallel.
Allied lithium batteries are produced with LifePO4 lithium chemistry that combines with their battery management system to create what Allied believes is the safest battery available – safer than lead acid because they do not contain lead or acid. These sealed batteries are non-combustible and non-flammable.
In recent years the combination of Allied’s improved technology and volume production makes the conversion from lead acid to lithium a logical choice. Allied customers around the U.S. are enjoying the many benefits of Allied lithium batteries. See the comparison chart below.
Which set is right for me?
Set of 4 × 12V used on golf car for reference:
- 40 A/H: 15–20 Miles per charge
- 60 A/H: 30–35 Miles per charge
- 80 A/H: 45–50 Miles per charge
- 100 A/H: 60+ Miles per charge
The average 18 hole round of golf is 6–8 miles. Mileages are based on stock fleet golf carts. Adjust for non-stock items: upgraded motors / controllers, AC units, older carts, etc.
Carts with upgraded motor or controller will require 60AH or higher. 60AH/80AH/100AH includes a larger capacity Battery Management System required to run the upgrades.
In order to maximize the life of the Lithium batteries, Allied requires the use of the Allied Charger. It includes OEM plugs and charges the batteries quickly and turns off when charging is complete.
Allied Lithium is also ideal for 72v people movers. Converting 6 and 8 passenger people movers from lead acid to lithium reduces the weight of the vehicle by roughly 400 pounds. Plus the ability for quick charge (opportunity charging) during the day – a 30 minute quick charge will add 10 miles of range to this vehicle. The reduced battery weight also allows the cart to carry a full load of passengers and luggage without draining the batteries. While lead acid is too much weight for these vehicles, gas-powered can be loud and clunky. And conversion is just as simple as 36v or 48v golf cars – same wires, cables and Allied 72V chargers.
Because of how safe Allied’s LifePO4 batteries are, FedEx and UPS have approved them for both ground and air shipments. So to take the guesswork out of shipping costs Allied provides free shipping to your door in the continental U.S.
Allied also provides a 7-Year prorated warranty so your customers are assured they will receive the full value of their investment. With a life of 3,500+ cycles our batteries are expected to last over 10 years.
Allied Lithium batteries are ready to drive even after months in storage. This is due to their low self-discharge rate of just 3%–5% per month as opposed to lead acid with a self-discharge rate of 25%–33% per month. In addition, it is very harmful for a lead acid battery to be discharged below 50% of its capacity. Snowbirds enjoy the benefit of leaving their cart in storage for the summer months.
In past years, there were two main factors preventing lithium batteries from becoming the dominant battery solution. First was safety concerns and second was price. In recent years, Allied has solved the safety concerns by using LifePO4 chemistry and a state-of-the-art battery management system. Allied’s volume production has brought down the cost of lithium considerably where the cost/benefit is now overwhelmingly tilted in favor of lithium.
