A brave Iowa boy has a sweet new ride thanks to generous friends and strangers.
According to the Mason City Globe Gazette, Kelyn Meyer received a tricked out golf car through the Make-A-Wish-Foundation. Kelyn, who has leukemia and travels to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for monthly treatments, originally planned to take a Make-A-Wish trip to San Diego with his family. But when the pandemic put the breaks on that plan, they went with the next best option – a fun way to get around during a favorite family pastime, golf.
“This wish has been really unique, that we found a local partner that really wanted to get involved,” Make-A-Wish Iowa’s Lexi Konig said. “They were hands-on in helping create this wish pretty quickly, and being there every step of the way.”
Leisure Time Golf Cars of New Hampton, Iowa, built the car. Leisure Time owner drove it himself to the Meyers home in the town of Saint Ansgar.
“We don’t think any small town in Iowa is too far away,” he told the newspaper.
