In a daring chase, a Shelton, Connecticut police officer commandeers a golf car to apprehend a fleeing suspect.
Shelton Police made headlines over the weekend as they utilized an unexpected vehicle in a pursuit to apprehend a fleeing individual.
Michael Busto, 33, hailing from New London, Connecticut, found himself facing charges of violating a protective order, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an officer, revealed a statement by Shelton police on Monday afternoon. With bonds totaling $200,000, Busto was detained following the incident.
The incident unfolded on Sunday when authorities were alerted to Busto’s violation of a protective order, barring him from the residence of the victim. Upon arrival at the scene, officers were informed that Busto had absconded just moments prior.
In a quick turn of events, one of the responding officers received intel suggesting that Busto had made a swift getaway through the woods, heading in the direction of Brownson Country Club. Witnesses at the club informed the officer that they had observed an individual sprinting across the golf course towards a cemetery located on Lane Street.
Undeterred by the unconventional choice of getaway vehicle, the officer promptly commandeered a golf car and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ultimately led to the successful apprehension of Busto in the vicinity of the local cemetery.
The use of a golf car in law enforcement operations underscores the unpredictable nature of police work and the necessity for officers to adapt to diverse situations in their quest for public safety.
