The Green Bay Packers’ star quarterback has been seen in a sporty new vehicle.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been spotted tooling around Green Bay in a sweet ride – an Aston Martin-style golf car gifted to him by a teammate.
The superstar was quickly spotted around town in the new ride. Local sports radio journalist Marques Eversoll tweeted video of Rodgers in the car. “The MVP casually rolling through town in his golf cart. While obeying traffic laws. And listening to music. #Vibe #PackersCamp,” he tweeted, before offering a clarification. “CONTEXT CLARIFICATION: The man was driving back to Lambeau after practice. Right across the street. I thought ‘casually rolling through town’ fit the vibe better.”
USA Today observed that the car at first had one interesting feature – a pink fuzzy steering wheel cover. But it was soon gone. The newspaper also noted one interesting thing about the car – it upended the usual quarterback-lineman gift-giving arrangement. Quarterbacks traditionally give their offensive linemen gifts at the end of the season as a thank-you for keeping them safe and blocked. But Rodgers got the car from one of his linemen, David Bakhtiari.
The lineman presented the quarterback with the car when Rodgers first came to Packers’ training camp after a much-publicized off-season feud between Rodgers and the Packers’ front office that for a time looked like it might end in Rodgers leaving the team. In the comments on a video posted to Instagram of Rodgers receiving the car, Bakhtiari joked that “(t)his is the real reason Aaron came back. Enjoy it 3x MVP.”
According to media reports, other details on the custom car included a custom driver’s seat emblazoned with Rodgers’ number 12, a decal commemorating Rodgers’ three NFL MVP seasons and a license plate reading “LUVN69” – a reference to Bakhtiari’s jersey number.
